Plain English Summary
FindIt is a community platform for reporting and recovering lost items. You agree to post truthful listings, submit honest claims, treat other users with respect, and not use the platform for illegal activity. We provide the tools — the community does the rest.
Acceptance of Terms
Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using FindIt — including browsing item listings, creating an account, posting items, or submitting claims — you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, you must not use FindIt.
Eligibility
FindIt is available to individuals who are 13 years of age or older. By using the platform, you represent that you meet this age requirement. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to these terms on your behalf.
Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. We will notify you of material changes by email and by displaying a notice on FindIt at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use after that date constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
Account Responsibilities
Account Registration
To post items or submit claims, you must create a FindIt account with a valid email address and a secure password. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep your profile information up to date.
Account Security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately at support@findit.app if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
One Account Per Person
Each individual may maintain only one active FindIt account. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions, exploit the platform, or misrepresent identity is strictly prohibited and will result in permanent suspension.
Account Termination
You may delete your account at any time from your profile settings. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with or without prior notice depending on the severity of the violation.
Item Listings & Content
Truthful Listings
All item listings must be truthful and accurate. You must only post items that are genuinely lost or found. Fabricating, exaggerating, or misrepresenting item details — including location, date, or condition — is prohibited.
Appropriate Content
Item listings must not contain illegal, offensive, defamatory, or misleading content. You must not post listings for illegal items, controlled substances, weapons, or anything that violates applicable law.
Images
Images uploaded to FindIt must be photographs of the actual item being reported. You must have the right to use any image you upload. Do not upload images that contain personal information, explicit content, or that belong to others without permission.
Rewards
If you offer a reward in your listing, you are solely responsible for fulfilling that reward upon a successful reunification. FindIt does not facilitate, guarantee, or mediate reward payments.
Removal of Listings
We reserve the right to remove any listing that violates these terms or that we determine is harmful to the community, without prior notice. Repeated violations will result in account suspension.
Claim System & Disputes
Honest Claims
You may only submit a claim for an item if you are the rightful owner or have a legitimate reason to recover it. Submitting false or fraudulent claims is strictly prohibited and may result in permanent suspension and referral to law enforcement.
Owner Discretion
Item owners have sole discretion in approving or rejecting claims. FindIt does not intervene in claim decisions between users. We strongly encourage owners to request reasonable proof of ownership before approving claims.
Safe Exchange
Always arrange to meet in a safe, public location to exchange items. FindIt strongly discourages home exchanges with strangers. We are not responsible for any incidents that occur during item exchanges arranged through the platform.
Dispute Resolution
FindIt does not act as an arbitrator in disputes between users. If you believe fraudulent activity has occurred, you should contact local law enforcement. You may also report abusive behaviour to our trust and safety team at safety@findit.app.
Prohibited Conduct
Fraud & Misrepresentation
You must not impersonate any person or entity, falsely claim ownership of items, or use FindIt to facilitate theft, fraud, or any illegal activity. We cooperate fully with law enforcement in investigations of such conduct.
Harassment & Abuse
FindIt has zero tolerance for harassment, threats, hate speech, or abusive behaviour directed at other users. Any such conduct will result in immediate suspension of your account.
Spam & Manipulation
You must not post duplicate listings, send unsolicited messages to other users, use automated tools to scrape or interact with FindIt, or attempt to manipulate search rankings or claim outcomes.
Technical Interference
You must not attempt to circumvent FindIt's security measures, access accounts belonging to others, introduce malicious code, or overload our infrastructure. Violations will be reported to relevant authorities.
Intellectual Property
FindIt's Intellectual Property
All code, design, logos, trademarks, and content created by FindIt are our exclusive intellectual property and are protected by applicable copyright and trademark laws. You may not reproduce or use them without our written permission.
Your Content
You retain ownership of all content you post on FindIt, including item descriptions and photos. By posting content, you grant FindIt a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display, reproduce, and distribute that content solely for the purpose of operating the platform.
Reporting Infringement
If you believe your intellectual property rights have been infringed by content on FindIt, please contact us at legal@findit.app with details of the infringement. We will respond promptly and take appropriate action.
Disclaimers & Limitations
No Guarantee of Recovery
FindIt is a platform for connecting people — we do not guarantee that lost items will be found or returned. The success of any reunification depends entirely on community participation and individual actions.
User-Generated Content
FindIt does not verify the accuracy of user-generated listings or claim requests. We are not responsible for false, misleading, or illegal content posted by users. Always exercise caution and personal judgement when interacting with other users.
Service Availability
FindIt is provided on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free service. We may suspend or modify the platform at any time without prior notice for maintenance or other operational reasons.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, FindIt and its team shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of — or inability to use — the platform, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Governing Law
Applicable Law
These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. By using FindIt, you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of courts located in Mumbai, Maharashtra for any disputes arising from these terms.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms of Service is found to be unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that these terms otherwise remain in full force and effect.
